| It happens in the space between one breath and the next. You can feel as your insides start pulling in a different direction than your feet, and then the ground vanishes beneath you, as your body dissolves into a cloud of particles. It only takes a moment, if moments existed right then. The rubber sheet of spacetime reaches its limit and then you're back, every atom returned to its proper place, except everything else has changed. The air rushing around you is cold as a freezer, and when you land, it's only to crash into a heap of scrap metal and spacerock. |
